Location
The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi is one of Hanoi’s most legendary hotels. Originally built in 1901, the hotel is situated in Hanoi's French Quarter, and has played host to statesmen, writers and entrepreneurs. With a timeless elegance and charm, the hotel is ideally situated for those that want to explore Hanoi's rich cultural and historical sites.
Accommodation
Luxury here is not measured by the number of the buttons on the room’s lighting control panel; it’s in the quality of the service, the richness of the fabrics and the pervasive sense of history. This is a traditional five-star hotel. The 364 rooms and suites are divided into two wings – the historic Metropole Wing and the newer yet equally elegant Opera Wing – and feature high ceilings, solid wooden furniture, plush Vietnamese silks and lavish en suite bathrooms. Lovers of page and screen may want to opt for the Legendary Suite, which in its time has played host to Somerset Maugham, Charlie Chaplin and Graham Greene, who stayed here in 1951 while writing The Quiet American.
Dining
There are three very fine restaurants at the hotel. The Angelina Restaurant and Lounge serves Italian fare; Le Beaulieu is a contemporary haute brassiere offering traditional French cuisine, while the Spices Garden specialises in Vietnamese dishes. If you fancy an evening cocktail, visit one of the hotel’s three bars: the Bamboo Bar by the pool, La Terrasse du Metropole, or Le Club, located in the hotel’s serene courtyard garden.
Facilities
All the services and facilities one would expect from a five-star hotel in a capital city are here, including a sauna, beauty salon, hammam, swimming pool, and Le Spa du Metropole, a calm sanctuary offering personalised treatments and massages.
