Location
Further north than Tromso and further east than most of Sweden, Sorrisniva is based in Norway's most remote Arctic region, the gateway to Finnmark. Set on the banks of the River Alta, this idyllic setting provides the perfect place for serenity and adventure far from any light pollution, ideal for viewing the Northern Lights. The best way to access Sorrisniva is by flight from Oslo or Tromso via the hotel mini-bus, the transfer time is approximately 20 minutes.
Accommodation
Despite a constant temperature between -4 and -7, the igloo's surprisingly offer comfort and warmth amid Arctic conditions. Kept cosy by reindeer leathers and layers of a thermal sleeping bag, enjoy a peaceful night sleep with cleverly carved decorative statuettes, candle light glows and crystalline walls in the surroundings.
Dining
The delectable Restaurant Laksestua offers one of the best dining options in Finnmark. Practicing a philosophy based on the 'food calendar', chefs use only the freshest and local produce seasonally available to create delicious, traditional Norwegian cuisine. The location this far north provides an unusual collection of ingredients, collating to create unique meals including freshly-caught Arctic char, smoked reindeer and Polar cod.
Facilities
No trip to the Igloo Hotel would be complete without a trip to the Ice Bar; enjoy delicious drinks in ice glasses in a room constructed entirely from solid blocks of ice. For the adventurer, take full opportunity of the activity facilities, including snowmobile safaris, ice-fishing, dog sledding, reindeer and sami experiences and winter walking routes with the best Northern Lights viewing spots. If you are looking for relaxation, unwind in the sauna or outdoor hot tub - you might be lucky enough to catch the Northern Lights from here.
