Location
Surrounded on all sides by 5,000 acres of World Heritage-listed Main Range National Park, you’ll be surprised that the area is just a two hours’ drive from Brisbane. The eco-retreat is only bookable as part of the Scenic Rim Trail itinerary – a four day guided walk run by the main lodge. On it, you’ll get to appreciate verdant forests, rocky escarpments and endangered wildlife.
Accommodation
The safari style tents are large and tastefully furnished, with private bathrooms and polished wood floors. Fine linen king size or twin beds with feather pillows are a far cry from the camp beds of your childhood while you can also make use of the complimentary WiFi nestled in one of the oversized armchairs.
Dining
Despite the camp’s remote location, the hatted Spicers food experience is far from compromised. On the trail, hearty breakfasts to fuel your hike are complemented by gourmet dinners in the evening. The camp’s welcoming communal space has a stone fireplace and a large central table, perfect for sharing your adventures over your meal and a glass of wine. You’ll also eat at Spicers Peak Lodge where head chef Doug Innes-Will’s à la carte and degustation menus bring out the best in fresh, local produce.
Facilities
With the route including a stay at Spicers Peak, guests can make full use of the lodge’s infinity swimming pool, games room and tennis court. You can also pre-book off-site activities including horse riding, 4WD tours and mountain biking. On the trail, guests are treated to the unparalleled expertise of the route’s local guides and will have the opportunity to venture into the nearby bat cave or cool off in private swimming holes under the stunning Queensland sky-scape.
