The Windermere Estate Plantation & Retreat, Kerala

Location

The Windermere Plantation & Retreat is located in Munnar, Kerala. Munnar literally means three rivers, and three mountain streams, the Muthipuzah, Nallathani and Kundala, feed the area. The area has a lovely cool and pleasant climate all year round.

Accommodation

At the retreat, there are three types of accommodation, Garden Rooms, Estate Rooms and Plantation villas. Garden rooms are about 350 sq ft, with luxurious verandas with either views of the valley or garden. Cottages are larger at 650 sq ft, and enjoy unimpeded views of the valley. Take a Planter's Villa for the largest floor space - at 1,200 sq ft, which have big bathrooms, a balcony and large windows affording breathtaking views of the mountains.

Dining

The retreat has a lavish and expansive dining room, with an old-fashioned fire place, and wooden pillars, it has an old world charm. That's Dining at the Barn, which serves a range of Continental, Oriental, and Indian cuisine, for meals as well as breakfasts. There's also the laid-back option of dining at The Hut, which is a rustic space with an unadorned native appeal.

Facilities

The hotel offers a range of charming activities, from evening walks in the plantation, to trips to View Point, the highest point in the estate, from which you can get spectacular views. Other activities include relaxing in the library, strolling in the gardens, or bird watching. Topping it all is the infinity pool, perfect for relaxing soaks and views across the tea gardens.
