Location
The metallic curves of this uber-stylish family-owned hideaway are something akin to Bilbao’s Guggenheim Museum. Yet, in the tranquil setting of Central Chile’s Millahue Valley, such forward-thinking design provides not only a sharp contrast to the surrounding vines but also pleasing symmetry with the valley’s undulating contours. As the only winery on the eastern side of the Cordillera de la Costa range, Viña Vik offers an altogether more off-the-beaten-track alternative to its famous Colchagua cousin.
Accommodation
With hand-made furnishings, artistic flourishes and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out to 11,000 acres of verdant vineyards, Andean valleys and a shimmering lake, the hotel’s 22 suites are a triumph of substance and style. Each one comes with a luxury en suite, a private terrace, a mini-bar and complimentary WiFi as standard.
Dining
With fresh seasonal produce and a comprehensive accompanying wine list, perfectly prepared plates and sizzling asado barbecues – served in the nearby forest – celebrate all that’s great about Chilean farm-to-table food. Breakfast is available either in the dining room or served in the privacy of your suite.
Facilities
While most days will be spent getting to know the local produce on guided tours and tastings, if you do feel like taking time out there’s a striking infinity pool, a solarium, a massage room and a sauna to enjoy. For days out away from the wine, perhaps consider pre-booking a 4WD or mountain bike excursion, or take yourself off on a leisurely trek through the valleys and vines.
