Introduction
K'gari is the world’s largest sand island, located roughly 300 km north of Brisbane, off the coast from the whale-watching hotspot of Hervey Bay. It's strictly 4WD-only territory, a mix of sand tracks through the wildlife-filled rainforest interiors and beach ‘highways’. The island’s incredible diversity of wildlife, including an abundance of native dingos, is punctuated by a landscape of towering sand dunes, fresh water lakes and discreet lodges made for escapism.
