Introduction
Positano is considered the jewel in the Amalfi Coast crown.
Just half an hour's drive on coastal roads from Amalfi, author John Steinbeck described this enchanting town as: "a dream place that isn't quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone."
Set into a cliff face over looking the sea, the steep streets and avenues of this picturesque Roman town are lined with elegant shop facades and luxury hotels and restaurants.
Highlights include the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, with its ceramic dome and Byzantine Black Madonna statue, and shopping in one of Positano's fashionable boutiques.
