Introduction
Ravello is a popular tourist destination on the Amalfi Coast. Located about five kilometres from Amalfi, this refined World Heritage listed town is best know for its beautiful gardens and spectacular views. Most visit on a day trip from Amalfi via a hair-raising 7km-drive up the Valle del Dragone, though those who stay the night will be richly rewarded. Ravello sprung up in the fifth century as a shelter for the mercantile nobility who opposed the authority of the Doge and today retains a disproportionate number of palazzi in relation to its small size.
