The spectacular Atlantic Road twists and turns between Norway's beautiful west coastal islands, framed on one side by the region's famous fjords and the ocean – home to humpback whales, orcas and seals – on the other. After a stay in the heart of historic Bergen and its characterful harbour, you'll have three days to explore the region, with a base in the charming village of Molde. You'll pause at the tallest rock face in Europe, go fishing on laid-back islands and experience the hairpin turns of Trollstigen Mountain Road and UNESCO-listed Geirangerfjord, enjoying historic hotel stays and al fresco seafood dining along the way.
Day by day itinerary
Days
1-2
Bergen
After included VIP airport lounge access, board your flight from the UK to Bergen. On arrival, you'll check in to your hotel, Opus XVI, all brick facades, heavy granite walls and columns carved from polished marble, run by the descendants of renowned composer Edvard Grieg. You'll have two days to explore, with strolls along the city's old Bryggen wharf – characterised by colourful wooden and stone warehouses – browsing the museums and boutiques and indulging in al fresco seafood lunches on the sun-kissed quayside. We'd highly recommend taking it all in from above with a trip on the Floyen funicular, for which we've included a ticket.

Molde
After breakfast, fly from Bergen to Molde where you'll collect your hire car. Later, check in to your town-centre hotel, Molde Fjordstuer, home to a charming al fresco pub – the perfect place for boat spotting as you enjoy dinner on the quay – as well as an à la carte seafood restaurant serving ultra-fresh regional specialities.

The Atlantic Road
The next two days are a true trip highlight as you drive the spectacular Atlantic Road. Arguably the region's most spectacular road trip, this winding highway zigzags across bridges and islands between Molde and charming Kristiansand. Be sure to stop at the Åndalsnes Train Chapel – a train carriage converted to a small church – and the Troll Wall, the tallest vertical rock face in Europe, alongside fishing, watching out for seals and whales and scenic stops in the picturesque villages of Bud and Ona. We'd highly recommend driving a little further along the hairpin bends of the Trollstigen Mountain Road to reach the shores of one of Norway's most spectacular fjords – UNESCO World Heritage-listed Geirangerfjord.
