Hobart
Collect your hire car from Hobart Airport and check in to The Islington hotel. You'll have two full days to explore the city and its surroundings, and there are plenty of options to choose from. The waterfront is lined with beautiful Georgian buildings, while a day trip to Port Arthur – guarded by imposing cliffs – gives a sense of Tasmania's notorious past as a penal colony. Trips to the wineries of the Cole River Valley or a visit to Hobart's Cascade Brewery, the oldest in Australia, are other popular activities. On day five, we have included a trip to Moorilla Estate for a fabulous wine tasting session and vineyard tour, followed by lunch at a local restaurant. You'll be taken there and back by ferry, with complimentary drinks and canapes on board.

Freycinet National Park
With a climate reminiscent of the south of France and some of the cleanest air and water in the world, Tasmania's east coast produces stunning, flavourful, cool-climate wines such as chardonnay and pinot noir. Fishermen come in daily with crayfish, scallops and deep-sea fish as well as succulent oysters, pulled by the dozen from the pristine waters of Great Oyster Bay. The bay is overlooked by the luxury lodge, Saffire Freycinet, your home for the next two nights, where chefs take full advantage of the region's rich produce. You luxury lodge offers easy access to beautiful Freycinet National Park, whose star attractions include the pinky-orange peaks of the Hazards Mountains and the perfect curve of Wineglass Bay.

Launceston
Head north-west to Launceston, where you'll return your hire car. For your final two nights, you'll be staying at the stylish, marina-front Peppers Seaport Hotel. Fittingly, given its location on the site of an old dock, it's designed in the shape of a ship. Launceston's many excellent bars, cafes, and restaurants are just a short stroll away, making this the ideal spot to round off your Tasmanian adventure. On day nine, we have included a guided tour, wine tasting session and two-course lunch with wine pairings at the award-winning Josef Chromy estate.
