Copenhagen, Denmark's picturesque capital city plays host to one of Europe's most iconic Christmas markets, at the world-famous Tivoli Gardens from mid-November until the end of December each year. The gardens provide a wonderful fairytale setting with colourful stores selling traditional handicrafts and festive food and drink as well as a spectacular light show over the beautiful Tivoli Lake.
Other Christmas markets can be found in the historic Nyhavn district, along the banks of the famous Nyhavn Canal where stalls sell tempting apple dumplings and glogg; a warming Scandinavian mulled wine, as well as in Christiania, the city's bohemian district, where unique handmade arts and crafts can be found.
This city-break allows plenty of time to explore Copenhagen's Christmas markets as well as spend some time exploring the rest of the city, including Rosenberg Castle and Stroeget, Europe's longest pedestrian shopping street.
