Introduction
Kibale is another of Uganda's superb wildlife-viewing areas. The big draw here is primates, with the greatest variety and concentration of primates in East Africa to be found within the boundaries of Kibale Forest National Park.
L'Hoest's and red colobus monkeys are among the 13 different species to look out for on a Kibale safari. Man's closest living relative - the chimpanzee - can also be seen in the park. There are around 500 chimpanzees, frequently seen feasting on the ripe fruit of fig trees.
Kibale's lowland and montane forest and swampy clearings are also home to buffalos and antelopes, and 325 species of birds - including hornbills, turacos and the African grey parrot. Elusive forest elephants also move seasonally into a part of the park. This broad array of flora and fauna has contributed to Kibale's growing popularity as a Uganda holiday destination.
