Location
The perfect retreat to switch off, relax and reconnect with nature, Trappers Hotel is located in the heart of Longyearbyen, the capital of Svalbard. The hotel is close to the areas well-known attractions, including an array of restaurants, shops and bars. Guests can fly into Bergen, Oslo, Longyearbyen or Trondheim Airport, an airport shuttle service is provided.
Accommodation
Furnished with rusticity, reclaimed driftwood and board from the Russian settlement of Barentsburg, Trappers Hotel offers a traditional hunters cottage experience. Basecamp Hotel can accommodate more than 40 people, all rooms featuring comfortable beds and private bathrooms with showers. Triple rooms feature bunk beds in real trapper’s style or suites include separate bedrooms and a lounge. All rooms command beautiful views over the town, toward the mountains surrounding the Longyeardalen valley.
Dining
Next door to the hotel is restaurant Kroa, offering a menu with a variety of cuisine, including pizza, local catches and meat dishes ranging from steak to duck. Alternatively, experience a three course Trapper’s Dinner, an interesting menu that helps to convey the history behind the hunters’ lives and cuisine.
Facilities
In true Trappers Style, there are no televisions in rooms; however the ‘Cognac Loft’ features a big screen television for guests to use alongside a hotel pub. Other facilities include wireless internet where possible, and guests can engage in activities such as kayaking, hiking, snowmobiling, dog-sledging, boat safaris, skiing and witnessing the spectacular Northern Lights.
