Location

In 1978, Mesa Verde National Park was named a World Heritage Site in recognition of its exceptional archaeological relevance. Protecting thousands of archaeological sites, including hundreds of cliff dwellings, Mesa Verde National Park is perched high in Southwest Colorado. The Far View Lodge is elevated at 8200 feet, offering guests unrivalled views across 4 states.

Accommodation

Far View Lodge consists of 150 rooms arranged in 13 clusters of lodge buildings. There is a choice of Kiva or Kiva Deluxe View rooms, with 2 queens or 1 king bed, all with custom handcrafted furniture and standard amenities. To preserve the tranquillity of the location there are no televisions or phones in the rooms, but each room has a private balcony from which to enjoy the impressive views across 4 states and awesome stargazing opportunities.

Dining

There are two options at the Far View Lodge. The Far View Terrace Café is open three times a day serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in a casual food-court setting. The Metate Room Restaurant serves breakfast and dinner A’ La Carte, and features contemporary menus inspired by regional heritage foods and flavours against a backdrop of colourful Native American artwork.

Facilities

Designated nature and hiking trails through the Mesa Verde National Park are the main attraction at Far View Lodge and there are plenty of options for both amateur and experienced hikers and cyclists as well as well-planned driving tours. Invigorating solitude and endless wildlife watching are the big draws here. Guests can also take guided tours to learn the history of the Ancestral Puebloan people, visit their ancient dwellings and admire the ancient prehistoric rock carvings but a good place to start is the Chapin Mesa Archaeological Museum which offers a brilliant introduction to the area’s history.
