Location

Santa Fe – the second-oldest city and the oldest state capital in the US – has preserved much of its original charm and has even added to it with central buildings built in the same adobe architecture; it’s home to one of the highest concentrations of historic places recognised by the National Register. This downtown hotel itself is just two blocks from Santa Fe Plaza, featuring fine dining, a range of museums and excellent shopping opportunities. The hotel is also within walking distance to the New Mexico State Capitol.

Accommodation

Accommodation comes in the form of one or two bedroom casitas. All rooms invite artsy Santa Fe in with pictures sourced from America’s third-largest art market, just a few minutes’ walk from the hotel. They also feature 250 thread count sheets, cable TV, wet bars and that all-important WiFi. Suites are located in their own private wing and come with fireplaces, beamed ceilings and front porches making for comfortable stays.

Dining

Start your day with a breakfast buffet from the Pinon Grill with all the usual cooked options but with a focus on healthy bites. There’s also a selection of moreish pastries baked daily by the hotel’s pastry chef. The Hilton’s main restaurant, El Canon, is something of a gathering place with Starbucks coffee and light snacks on offer throughout the day. For lunch, there are sandwiches, soups and salads while, come the evening, guests are encouraged to relax by the fireplace and enjoy the light dinner fare and an extensive wine selection.

Facilities

Accommodation is centred around the hotel’s pool which, in keeping with the town’s picturesque adobe, features a roaring, oversized fireplace which makes for atmospheric evenings spent in the whirlpool hot tub. There’s also a fitness centre, complete with several cardiovascular machines and a range of free weights. The helpful concierge desk is more than happy to advise on tours and activities in the surrounding area.
