Location
Located in the popular ski resort of Niseko its perhaps unsurprising that this stylish boutique hotel really comes into its own during winter. After days exploring the region’s on-and-off-piste delights – Niseko is renowned for its knee-deep powder with 15 metres of snowfall each year – guests can retire to a cosy lounge in front of a roaring fire as the snow falls outside large panoramic windows. In summer, Niseko transforms into a haven for bikers, hikers and rafters all set to a backdrop of nearby Yōtei-zan volcano.
Accommodation
Of the nine rooms available, the eminently stylish lofts are our favourites; their in-room mezzanines with tatami floors look down from double height ceilings and the lodge’s original timber frames. Pillow menus are a nice touch, while a sophisticated audio-visual set up allows you to gorge yourself on après ski movies. The rooms’ modern en suites come with refreshing rain showers.
Dining
Perhaps the hotel’s standout feature is its restaurant. The building’s design is inspired by a traditional Hokkaido farmhouse, brought up to date with impressive floor-to ceiling windows. Step inside to find a warm and welcoming authentic bistro atmosphere. An all-season alpine menu and extensive wine list combine to make this one of Niseko’s most popular eateries.
Facilities
Treat yourself to a Japanese back massage, shiatsu or aromatherapy treatment, or a full body massage at the hotel’s superb spa, while Moku soaks and ishi tubs make the perfect antidote to all those energetic daytime activities.
