A member of Leading Hotels of the World, Maradiva is spread across 27 acres of Mauritius' idyllic west coast, in a secluded corner of the island famed for its incredible sunsets and dry, warm climate – even during winter months.
Overlooking Tamarin Bay, the resort has 65 ultra-stylish villas, all with private pools, which feature the likes of butler service, separate living and dining areas, private terraces and considered designer touches such as Hermés wallpaper and amenities. The Beachfront Suite Pool Villas are our favourite, for their uninterrupted views across the azure waters of the Indian Ocean.
Also on site, the resort's three restaurants offer a world-spanning array of cuisines. There's the all-day-dining delights of Coast2Coast, with its Mediterranean-inspired buffets and à la carte menus. Then, at the ever-so-romantic Cilantro, modern Indian dishes are complemented by a stylish lounge offering pre- and post-dinner drinks, while at Teppan, the talented head chef is regarded as the finest exponent of Japanese cuisine in Mauritius. Lastly, if you fancy something more laid back, the Breakers Bar serves light bites and a superb selection of beers, cocktails and fine wines, accompanied by dreamy sunset views.
To work off all of that food, the Maradiva's menu of activities range from waterskiing, kayaking and windsurfing to deep-sea fishing, scuba diving and even dolphin swims. There's also a fitness centre and aqua gym, while guest also have access to the Tamarind Golf Club, with preferential rates and benefits. But, there's also plenty of opportunities to chill out, too, with a stunning spa offering the best in Ayurvedic treatments as well as a yoga and meditation pavilion and an infinity-edge swimming pool. Filaos, typical Mauritian trees, provide plenty of shady spots along the long resort's idyllic beach. Meanwhile, further fun can be found with a cookery class, while kids are well catered to at the Mini Club, which comes complete with a shallow pool and even a Peter Pan-themed pirate ship.
Hotel closed for refurbishment between 31 March and 31 October 2023.
