Location
Acclaimed by glossy travel magazines the world over as leading the way in sustainable luxury, exceptional Song Saa is stunningly located on two private islands in the untouched Koh Rong archipelago. The islands - Koh Ouen and Koh Bong - are known locally as the Song Saa islands, which means ‘sweethearts’ in Khmer, and are connected by a footbridge over a marine reserve. The resort is intimate and luxurious, and is reached via Phnom Penh or Siem Reap airports, from where you can transfer to Sihanoukville Port; a luxury speed boat whisks you to the exclusive resort from here.
Accommodation
The resort’s Over Water, Jungle and Ocean-View villas are built with the deepest respect for the environment, using sustainable materials like natural stone and traditional thatch to great effect. All feature well-stocked minibars, ultra-comfortable beds, private plunge pools and outdoor rainforest showers.
Dining
Food at Song Saa is sumptuous and healthy, and focuses on fresh, sustainable and locally sourced ingredients. Dishes combine age-old Cambodian traditions with the best of modern Western techniques, and are served in one of the hotel’s four restaurants and bars. The Vista Bar and Restaurant is located on the island’s shoreline and is surrounded by sea, making it a spectacular spot in which to enjoy a cold beer. There’s also the Driftwood Bar, which has a relaxed and rustic feel. Why not try poolside dining, in-villa dining, or, if you’d prefer, destination dining, allowing you to pick your own spot at which to set up a table.
Facilities
When surrounded by such beauty it’s very tempting to sit back and do little but just soak it all in. You are on holiday after all. And there’s a wonderful infinity pool and inviting spa to help you soothe away your stresses. Yet more active travellers will be equally impressed by the range of activities on offer, from snorkelling, sea kayaking and scuba diving, to sunrise yoga sessions, rainforest hikes, marine safaris and cultural forays into nearby villages.
