Sun Mountain Lodge, Washington

Location

Sun Mountain Lodge can be found in the small town of Winthrop, in the foothills of the North Cascades mountain range and National Park with its pristine forests. Winthrop is known for the Old West design of all the buildings in the town, making it a tourist destination. The lodge is also within 12 miles of Big Twin Lake, Mack Lloyd Park and Shafer Museum. The international airports of Seattle and Spokane are around 200 miles away.

Accommodation

Rooms in the Main Lodge have sweeping views of either the Methow Valley and National Forest or the North Cascades. The simple accommodation is decorated with original artworks and hand-crafted furniture made by local artisans. The Gardner Lodge offers rustic refinement, with beds and furniture crafted from local willow and a private deck or patio facing Mount Gardner. The luxurious guestrooms in the Mt. Robinson Lodgings feature king beds, separate living areas, whirlpool bath and private decks with spectacular mountain views.

Dining

There are two restaurants at Sun Mountain Lodge. The acclaimed Dining Room has held the AAA Four Diamond Award for 25 years running and serves hearty breakfasts and elegant dinners with a firm farm-to-table ethos and an unwavering commitment to local producers. The more casual Wolf Creek Bar & Grill serves a tempting all-day-dining menu including American classics and dishes inspired from around the world such as its famous Chicken Curry Soup. The Wine Cellar contains an extensive wine collection: 3,500 bottles, over 600 labels, 420 of which from providers in Washington State, and can be hired for private wine dinners for up to 14 people.

Facilities

Sun Mountain Lodge features two outdoor swimming pools and two spa tubs, plus tennis court, fitness centre and spa. The Gift Shop sells a wide array of clothing items, accessories and other souvenirs while The Activities Shop offers sporting equipment for sale or rent, catering for the wide range of mountain activities on offer. Among the warm weather activities available at Sun Mountain are mountain biking, horseback riding, wildlife watching, golf, fly fishing or boating, while the winter pursuits of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing take place on the resort’s impressive trail system spanning 60 kilometres.
