Ice hotels | Northern Lights | Winter
With under a dozen rooms, this is perhaps the world’s most boutique snow-hotel experience. That’s not to say, however, that you’ll be without the classics, with the ice bar, ice restaurant and ice cinema rounding off its frozen facilities. That’s alongside a fantastic selection of intimate excursions on offer.
New for winter 2018/2019, the Tromso Ice Domes are built afresh each year, promising exciting innovations each time. Great carved reliefs gaze down from snowy walls, sculptures come ethereally lit and even whole beds are hewn from giant sheets of ice. Don’t worry, you’ll be kept snug with cosy furs and Arctic-standard sleeping bags.
You’ll also wanted to toast your stay with one of the locally made liquors in the bar, served, of course, in ice glasses. However, it’s the meals at the ice restaurant that might just linger longest in the memory. With hearty traditional favourites dished up on frozen tables, it’s a magical experience, watched over by delightfully carved woodland scenes. If you're staying overnight, an included dinner is taken on an open fire in the wilderness.
The inclusive delights on overnight stays don't end there, however. In the evening, you'll be treated to a snowshoe excursion, heading into the wilderness to enjoy a campfire dinner and search for the Northern Lights. Then, the next day, you'll enjoy an included husky sledding experience, complete with a hearty lunch. As this is a fantastically inclusive experience, transfers to and from Tromso are also included either side.
