The Namib-Naukluft Park is the largest nature reserve in Africa. Made up of gravel plains, inland mountains, the towering sand dunes of Sossusvlei, and the Sperrgebiet forbidden diamond zone, the park provides the evocative images of Namibia so recognized the world over.

This remarkable, but inhospitable, area attracts tourists, hikers, ecologists and geographers, to its mountains, dunes and magnificent natural formations.

Running along a narrow 2000km strip, the Namib-Naukluft is hemmed by the Atlantic on its west and an escarpment to the east. The most accessible area is between the Swakop River in the north and the dune fields of Sossuslvei.
