Introduction
The most northerly of the British Leeward Islands, Anguilla is a sleepy, laid-back corner of the Caribbean. Small and sparsely populated, it has some great beaches and coral-encrusted islets that are ideal for swimming, snorkelling and diving.
Shoal Bay is one of the best beaches in the eastern Caribbean whilst Meads Bay has a mile-long swathe of sand to stroll along; Prickly Pear Cay is good for diving and there are countless wrecks off-shore waiting to be discovered. The Fountain, an enormous underground cave is an interesting attraction, filled with Amerindian carvings and petroglyphs.
