Introduction
Charlottesville is best known as the hometown of Thomas Jefferson. The town is dominated by the University of Virginia campus, which Jefferson founded and designed, ad Monticello, his Palladian masterpiece home located in the leafy foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The building is now one of the most celebrated houses in the country with a private museum and library with a collection of around 6,700 books.
