Natchez is a pretty little town on the bluffs above the Mississippi River that is best known for its fine antebellum architecture.

Many of the historic buildings and house museums are a short walk from the historic downtown district and open year round, while others can be seen during the Natchez Pilgrimage.

Another highlight is Melrose Plantation east of Natchez - the most intact antebellum estate in the USA.
