Location
This inviting wilderness retreat, owned and run by photographer Fredrik Broman, is situated on the banks of the Råne and scattered amongst trees, overlooking the vast lake which is frozen for much of the year. Located just over one hour from Lulea Airport, enjoy a transfer from the check in point to the campsite via snowmobile across the frozen lake.
Accommodation
Stay overnight in one of five Lavvu tents in the wild forest of Swedish Lapland and Råne River Valley. Tents feature comfortable beds with arctic sleeping bags and chairs, alongside firewood heaters to keep guests toasty throughout the winter nights, and the open fire outside, which boasts a magnificent view over the river. With just a thin canvas separating from the wild and a washroom hidden a short walk away in the woods, it is one of the most authentic Arctic experiences on offer.
Dining
Deep in the forests of Luleå there are no supermarkets, so the food here will be as seasonally fresh as you will ever eat. Smoked reindeer and other organic produce is hunted, trapped and foraged from the forest and cooked over a fire and served up in the lounge lavvu, with lashings of warming lingonberry juice.

The Swedish Lapland is renowned for an amazing array of winter activities- and this corner of the Arctic Circle is no different. Aurora Safari Camp offers husky sledding, snow-mobiling, snow-shoeing, moose watching, ice-fishing and ice sculpting. Aurora Borealis spotting is a highlight as the lack of artificial light from the camp makes stargazing on clear nights exhilarating. Photography workshops and field trips with Fredrik and his team are not to be missed.
