Location

Situated in Drakenstein Valley in the Cape Winelands, one of the country’s most visited destinations, Babylonstoren is only 60km from Cape Town and 45 minutes from Cape Town International Airport. The historic university town of Stellenbosch, renowned for its wine route, history and culture is a mere 20 minute drive, and must-see destination-Franschhoek- one of the most picturesque towns, is also within close proximity of Babylonstoren.

Accommodation

A small avenue of 18th-century cottages makes up the 13 boutique guest Garden Cottages of Babylonstoren. They also offer nine Farmhouse Suites, six Fynbos Cottages and a pair of spacious Family Houses, perfect for large groups and available for rent on an exclusive basis. Accommodation comes in the form of one and two bedroom cottages and suites, all of which feature either garden or vineyard views. Fifteen of the cottages feature airy kitchens in wood, earth and off-white tones, while large bedrooms feature double beds and fireplaces.

Dining

With simplicity in mind, the Babel Restaurant boasts creative meals in clear structure. Vegetables and fruit are gathered daily from the gardens and dishes often reflect the colours of the season. Babel is open every night and, in addition, they offer Italian-inspired evenings at the Bakery, serving gourmet pizza as well as a Carnivore evening. The Greenhouse is open during the day and offers a refreshing menu of different tea-infusions, fresh salads, breads from the old wood-fired oven alongside a variety of meats and handcrafted cheeses, cakes, coffees and light meals.

Facilities

A wide range of activities are offered at Babylonstoren, catering for all needs between those wanting to pamper their bodies, experience the wine, and for active guests, wishing to explore. A spa, gym and swimming pool encourage guests to relax and unwind, perhaps after a day of birdwatching, or photographing the beauty of the historical buildings, vineyards and gardens. Guided tours of the wine cellars commence daily, or guests can engage in gardening activities, such as tours, harvesting or planting. Activities on the farm include canoeing on the farm dam or cycling through vineyards, or guests can venture into neighbouring wine farms including Stellenbosch and Paarl, or to Cape Town and Cape Point for whale watching, golfing and shark diving.
