Location
Found among sprawling countryside, just 10 minutes from Girona’s cobblestone maze, the Camiral is an ideal choice for a combination of rural and urban. You’ll also have the Costa Brava’s golden curves on your doorstep. There are even 20 Michelin-starred restaurants within a 50km radius. And, after hiking or cycling the nearby trails and visiting the nearby volcanic and botanic parks, you’ll want to spend some time in in Girona. This provincial capital is flooded with history, with everyone from the Moors to the Romans and Visigoths having left their mark on its twisting laneways. It’s a destination that’s inspired the likes of Salvador Dalí whose great works are memorialised in the region’s Dalí Triangle, a trio of sites that remember the great artist’s life and works.
Accommodation
Hotel Camiral is a luxury showcase for contemporary Spanish design. Here, rooms are realised in hand-painted tiles, solid oak flooring and gilt-edged mirrors as rain showers and pillow-top mattresses provide the comforts. In turn, panoramic windows and private balconies look out across the pool and gardens to the resort’s golf course. The Junior Suites are particularly impressive, host to designer four-poster bed, traditional fireplaces and truly expansive private terraces. However, it’s the Executive Suite that truly stands out. Separate halls and living rooms link luxurious bedrooms that demonstrate the best in cutting-edge design.
Dining
Dining at Hotel Camiral’s signature 1477 Restaurant is by Ramón Simarro – a chef who cooks to triple Michelin star standard. Here, the ingredients are fresh, the wines sommelier-selected and the dishes immaculately presented. Although he’s worked in French restaurants and Michelin-starred Japanese eateries in London, it’s his native Catalonia that shines through in his menus. For something more casual, head to the Lounge bar or pool bar where fresh salads, juicy burgers and Catalan specialities are served to your sun lounger. If its a sunny terrace you're looking for try the Club Cafe overlooking the Montseny Massif mountain range where you can sample classic dishes and local favourites made with the finest ingredients.
Facilities
After dinner, you might want to retire to the Lounge Bar where the finest spirits go into crafting artisanal cocktails, complemented by range of classical bar dishes and seafood. For further relaxation, head to the pool, fitness centre or spa, where a full range of superb treatments are on offer. However, it’s the golf course that impresses most. As Spain’s most highly acclaimed 18 holes, it’s PGA-standard golfing at its best. The impressive Wellness Centre offers next-generation therapies normally only accessible in clinics, alongside traditionaland natural treatments.
