Lapland | Lodges | Northern Lights
Fully converted from a historic lodge, this exceptional offering adds a touch of contemporary luxury to the classic log-cabin break. Think gourmet dining, outdoor Jacuzzis and up-to-the-minute aurora forecasts. Finnish Lapland is, after all, one of the best places to spot the Northern Lights. What’s more, despite its remote setting, the L7 is served by direct flights from the UK.
It’s not just the aurora borealis that’s on offer at the L7, with a full complement of activities to choose from. With the Pallas-Ylläs National Park on its doorstep, you’ll want to make use of the complimentary snowshoes and cross-country skis to head out in the Lapland wilderness. Then, husky sledding and snowmobiling can bring you further afield – perhaps to the local ice hotel. Otherwise, summer activities range from kayaking to hiking and biking under the Midnight Sun.
Once you’ve returned from your daily exertions, there’s plenty to keep you entertained back at base. Alongside the obligatory Finnish sauna, there’s even an outdoor Jacuzzi hot tub – surely the finest way to stake out the Northern Lights. Check the interactive touchscreen each night for the latest forecast. You’ll also be treated to full-board dining, with highlights including indulgent lunch buffets, salmon dinners and complimentary afternoon teas.
At the end of it all, you’ll return to your room’s delightful log-cabin aesthetic, all exposed timber beams and views of the surrounding wilderness. And, although all is wild and rugged outside your window, inside there’s plush armchairs, rich fabrics and oversized stone fireplaces. What’s more, as the name suggests, there are only seven rooms, ensuring that each stay is fantastically exclusive.
