Location
The hotel occupies a seaside position on Victoria’s eastern coastline, a few minutes’ drive from the city centre and about 20 miles from Victoria International Airport. Its location, with views embracing the ocean and the mountains beyond, is removed enough from the city to provide peace and quiet, but close enough to be convenient. The vibrant and charming Oak Bay Village is just a short walk away and offers numerous restaurants, shops and cafes.
Accommodation
The hotel contains 100 spacious and luxurious rooms and suites, so it never gets too crowded. Guest rooms come with heated-floor bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, and views over the marina, city, or - best of all – the ocean. Private balconies and terraces are also available. Suites come in One-bedroom, Boutique, or Penthouse size, with the latter accommodating up to six guests and including two bathrooms, full kitchen, and dining and living rooms. All guests can take advantage of the hotel’s noon check-out time.
Dining
Breakfast is served at Kate’s Café and in the more formal surroundings of The Dining Room. The café is open all day, serving fresh pastries, sandwiches and soups, and offers outdoor street-side seating in the warmer months. The full-service Dining Room seats only 34 people and takes reservations for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving top-class Pacific Northwest cooking of locally sourced ingredients. The hotel also contains its own pub (Victoria’s first neighbourhood pub, dating back to the 1950s), The Snug, offering local pub food and a range of brews, and with its own oceanfront patio.
Facilities
Guests of the hotel are granted access to two of Victoria’s most prestigious golf courses: the Uplands Gold Club and the Victoria Golf Club, the oldest club in Canada. Elsewhere, the hotel’s oceanfront Boathouse Spa & Baths offer a range of facilities, including licensed pool deck, three hot outdoor mineral pools, steam sauna, manicure and pedicure rooms, and massage rooms for individuals and couples. There are also weekly Movie Nights in the hotel’s own luxury theatre, with gourmet food, home-made popcorn and drinks included in the ticket price. Beyond the hotel grounds, there is a rich array of outdoor activities to be enjoyed, including whale watching and charter fishing.
