Introduction
The charming costal village of Húsavík began life as a small fishing hamlet. Although some fishing boats remain, today whale watching vessels, ready to ferry throngs of tourists out to the deep-water habitat favoured by minke, fin and humpback whales, dominate the harbour.
Boat trips will also take you out to the bird colonies on the island of Lundey, or the hiking trails of the uninhabited Fjordur Peninsula.
