Reykjavik, the world’s northernmost capital, is a cultural dynamo with a burgeoning live music scene, world-class restaurants and fascinating museums, all squeezed into a small-town environment. You'll have time to explore it from your city centre base, alongside included excursions which will introduce you to Iceland's otherworldly nature. The first of these is a Northern Lights tour by Superjeep, followed by a Superjeep tour of the iconic Golden Circle region, taking in Thingvellir National Park, the Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss waterfall, as well as an off-road drive with views of Iceland's second-largest glacier. A visit to the Sky Lagoon will also be one of the highlights of your trip, as you soak in steaming, geothermally-heated waters directly overlooking the sea.

Sky Lagoon & Northern Lights Superjeep tour
We have included entry to the Sky Lagoon today, which is just a 10-15 minute drive from central Reykjavik. Since opening in 2021, it has earned a reputation as one of Iceland's finest geothermal spas, with a stunning infinity pool directly overlooking the sea, as well as a seven-step wellness ritual featuring everything from saunas and steam rooms to cold plunges and body scrubs. Soaking in the steaming, geothermally heated waters here is blissfully relaxing way to spend a few hours.
In the evening, you'll be picked up from your hotel for a Northern Lights tour by Superjeep, in which your expert guide will take you away from the city lights to find an optimal viewing point to try and spot this majestic natural phenomenon. Sightings cannot be guaranteed, as it depends entirely on the cloud cover and solar activity on any given night – but your guide will track the conditions in advance to give you the best possible chance. If the tour goes ahead but the lights don't make an appearance, you'll have the option to re-join on another night free of charge. If the aurora does appear, your guide will show you how to take photos to capture the spectacle. While you're waiting, a hot chocolate will be served to keep you warm.

Golden Circle
This morning, you'll set off on a guided Superjeep tour of the Golden Circle, a region quite literally bursting at the seams with natural wonders. Your first stop is Thingvellir National Park, where Iceland's first parliament was founded over 1,000 years ago. Here, you can walk along the rift valley where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are slowly drifting apart. Next up is the Geysir geothermal area, where boiling hot springs, steam vents and geysers pierce the Earth's surface. The largest of these geysers, Strokkur, erupts spectacularly every five minutes or so, on average. You'll then continue to Gullfoss, considered by many to be one of Iceland's most beautiful waterfalls, tumbling dramatically into a deep gorge. After a lunch break, you'll venture out on an off-road drive towards Langjökull glacier, Iceland's second-largest ice cap, for a scenic drive. It's also possible, depending on the conditions, to add on a snowmobile tour here (for an additional supplement – full driver's license required). Finally, you'll be driven back to Reykjavik in the early evening.

Return to UK
After breakfast, take the shuttle bus transfer back to Keflavik Airport in time for your flight home. You might also decide to make a detour to the Blue Lagoon en route for a relaxing soak in Iceland's most iconic geothermal pool – the perfect way to round off your trip (additional supplement applies).
Please be aware that due to the ongoing volcanic activity on the Reykjanes peninsula, the Blue Lagoon may be closed at short notice – in which case, a refund will be provided.
