With its vast deserts, Andean peaks and remote islands, Chile is a destination made for adventure. And, you’ll take in the best of it on this luxury itinerary, which pairs stays at two explora hotels – one set amid the austere beauty of the Atacama and the other in faraway Easter Island. At both, you’ll be treated to fine-dining and open-bar indulgences, coupled with a comprehensive array of excursions, designed to make the most of each location. Expect the likes of mountain hikes and cycle rides in Chile’s northern deserts while in Easter Island, you’ll enjoy everything from snorkelling to expert-led tours of the island’s unique cultural and historical treasures. There’s even time between stays to take in the delights of Chile’s capital – Santiago. Again, we’ve picked out a top hotel, perfectly located exploring the city, or as a base for a short tour of the country’s central wine lands.

Stay: The Singular, Santiago (Deluxe)

Days 3-5
The Atacama Desert

A private transfer will take you back to the airport this morning for your flight to Calama – gateway to the Atacama Desert. On arrival, a private transfer will see you to your luxury hotel – the stunning explora Atacama. An oasis among a landscape of volcanoes, salt pans and giant sand dunes, it’s a genuine slice of luxury in a dramatic wilderness setting – a landscape you’ll explore with a full range of complimentary excursions. Indeed, with everything from horseback rides to the Valle de Luna to to canyon bike rides and overland tours that take you between volcanic hot springs and the explosive El Tatio Geyser, it’s a hotel that certainly lives up to its name. You’ll even have the chance to go stargazing, making the most of the clear desert sky to enjoy spectacular views of the Milky Way. But, it’s not all exploration. There’s time to relax, too, with a pool, outdoor hot tubs and a choice of spa treatments all available. And, to top it all off, you’ll be treated to indulgent full-board dining and an open bar, all included in the price.

Day 6
Santiago

Fly south, between included private transfers, to arrive in the heart of Chile’s capital, nestled in a vast natural bowl surrounded by giant Andean peaks. To help make the most of your stay, we’ve included a night at one of the city’s finest hotels – the Singular. This luxury hotel is ideally located in historic Lastarria, one of the most culturally exciting corners of the capital. Successfully fusing 21st century design with French neoclassicism, the hotel embraces Santiago’s rich heritage and creativity. Rooms, which are among the most spacious in the city, and there’s a superb restaurant, which celebrates the best of Chilean gastronomy and wine making, a wellness centre and spa offering treatments and massages, a sauna and a Jacuzzi. If you can drag yourself away, the city itself offers a veritable treasure trove of attractions, from hilly parks to grand architecture and a several superb galleries and museums. As well as Lastarria, the neighbourhoods of Barrios Brasil and Bellavista are well worth a visit, not least for their lively pavement eateries and even livelier beer halls. Alternatively, use your half day to head to central Chile’s winelands. Speak to our specialists about our expert-led half-day tours.

Days 7-9
Easter Island (Rapa Nui)

Return to the airport for your flight to Easter Island – a far-flung gem in the heart of the Pacific Ocean. On arrival, you’ll be met for the short transfer to your next luxury hotel – the explora Rapa Nui. This long-standing Wexas favourite, recognised for its comprehensive programme of island-exploring activities, is ideally located near Hanga Roa. Yet, as you look out from its seductive curves, it’s easy to forget that civilisation is so close at hand. The lodge has just 30 rooms, all with hot tubs and sweeping views to the Pacific Ocean and coast. There’s little in the way of technology, however, with TVs and WiFi conspicuous by their absence – it’s all part of the hotel’s philosophy of disconnecting from daily life. As with their Atacama offering, meals, drinks and guided tours are included in your stay, so you’ll want to head out to explore. And there’s much to choose from, whether you’re into hiking, cycling or snorkelling, or you’d prefer to join an expert historian for an in-depth look at the island’s unique cultural heritage, peeling back the layers of history surrounding Rapa Nui’s rich archaeological treasures those enigmatic Moai statues. There’s even the chance, for a supplement, to discover Rapa Nui’s underwater world on a scuba diving trip in stunning Hanga Roa Bay.
