This epic itinerary will see you experience some of Canada's most beautiful regions, from witnessing the Northern Lights in the vast wilderness of the Northwest Territories to exploring the frontier city of Calgary. You'll begin by discovering the history of Northwest Territories capital Yellowknife before you head out to Blachford Lake Lodge, a remote wilderness lodge located south east of Yellowknife and accessible only by bush plane, offering you a rare escape. The most spectacular phenomenon on earth, the aurora borealis will show its true majesty. You'll then head to Calgary, with time to explore its Western brashness . We've included myriad winter activities along the way, from a wildlife tour in search of moose, elk and wolves.

After included VIP airport lounge access, arrive in Calgary on a daytime flight from the UK and check in to your overnight airport hotel, located less than five minutes from Calgary International Airport.

Calgary to Yellowknife
Head north today on a flight to Yellowknife and make your way to your hotel on arrival. Yellowknife the capital of the Northwest Territories got it's name from the colour of tools made by Dene First Nations people. Gold mining brought settlement to the city as well as prosperity until the 1980s.

Yellowknife to Blachford Lake Lodge
This morning board your flight at the Yellowknife floatplane base for the 10:00am flight to the lodge. Enjoy a half-hour scenic flight soar above the sub Arctic landscape as you travel to the lodge. Upon arrival at the lodge, you will be greeted on the dock by lovely lodge staff and to be taken for a quick tour around the lodge and your accommodation. Pull up a deck chair on the rock overlooking the lake for a stunning view and wildlife around the area or enjoy exploring by canoeing / kayaking paddling into the wilderness while listening to the loon’s call. Once you return to the lodge, join fellow travellers for a wonderful home cooked dinner in the dining room area around 06:30pm. In the evening, settle into your cozy cabin room to prepare for the upcoming adventure.

Blachford Lake Lodge
Sleep in or wake up with the birds - full hot breakfast is served from 8.30 - 9.30am. Enjoy one guided interpretive experience in the morning and afternoon: exact timing and type will depend upon several variables including demand and weather conditions. A full lunch (which may be fish-fry shore lunch for those fishing) is served at 12.30pm, followed by your chosen activity in the afternoon.
After a day of local adventure, head back to the lodge for a wonderful and hearty home cooked meal. The chefs will inspire and amaze you - their innovation and use of the garden, mixed with international favourites will keep you excited for each meal. Dinner will be served around 6.30pm. In the evening, head to the ‘Tipi’ located up on the ridge behind the lodge to get cozy around a beautiful fire pit. Just lean back and look up at the sky to enjoy the stunning aurora show. S’more kit and hot chocolate are available to enhance your evening experience

Blachford Lake Lodge to Yellowknife to Calgary
Wrap up the trip with your choice of activity before hearing the Twin Otter heading back to the lake. Watch this plane glide into the dock, and board your afternoon flight back to Yellowknife around 11:15am for the half hour flight back to Yellowknife, arriving approx. 11:45am in Yellowknife.
Fly back to Calgary and make your way back into the city. This is a city with a burgeoning reputation for culture and the arts, with a wide array of galleries and museums showcasing everything from natural history to contemporary photography. Calgary's culinary scene, too, is garnering international acclaim with creative chefs and restauranteurs launching exciting new eateries and giving a new lease of life to long-established favourites. There's also the chance to pick up some last-minute souvenirs from the city's markets and malls, or, take it all in from above with a trip to the top of the Calgary Tower.
