Tailor-made & luxury holidays to the USA

Introduction

Few countries rival the United States in its sheer scale, variety and incredible natural beauty. Far more than just an economic powerhouse, its city skylines, popular culture, food and drink, and the wonders of its national parks are recognisable the world over. There's enough exploring to last a lifetime - so where will you head next? Our USA specialists are here to point you in the right direction, using their first-hand knowledge of the country to help you plan the perfect itinerary, whether that's a road trip, rail holiday or anything in between.

America's Natural World

From the Grand Canyon and the Rocky Mountains to California's Yosemite National Park and the wildlife-rich Everglades, America’s outdoor attractions are among the best and most beautiful in the world. There are rugged coastlines, white sandy beaches, snow-capped mountains and sun-scorched deserts to explore across almost four million square miles of continent - meaning every journey is unique. And of course, America's indigenous wildlife is just as diverse, from the majestic bald eagle to the American black bear.

Fascinating Cityscapes

It’s impossible to ignore the bright lights of America's great cities. Many American adventures have begun in New York City, where towering skyscrapers and innovative architecture form the backdrop to a roaring arts and culture scene, while others are drawn to the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles and Las Vegas. For a different pace, head south, where you’ll discover legendary music in the Deep South cities of New Orleans and Memphis, relax on glorious beaches in Florida and tuck into the best ribs around at a Texan roadhouse diner.

Iconic Eats

It's not just the southern states where you’ll find great food. Whether it’s fine dining in New York, a tasty Philly cheese steak or chilli dog from a street stall, a steaming Maine lobster, or a hearty clam chowder from San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf, there’s more than enough to tempt even the most demanding of taste buds. It's also worth noting that California grows most of the fresh produce consumed in the US, and is home to some of the world's best vineyards, making it a hotspot for foodies and wine aficionados alike.

Majestic Self-Drives

The best way to explore this vast country is undoubtedly from behind the wheel of a car. It’s no coincidence that the majority of our recommended journeys are self-drives. Take a road trip in a Cadillac or convertible and explore the very best of the country from the winding lanes of New England to iconic road trips such as Route 66 and the spectacular Pacific Coast Highway. Whether you're speeding across the sweltering desert, snaking your way around dramatic coastal cliff roads or meandering through pretty towns, America's roads are meant to be driven. The freedom of the open road is ahead of you - so where will you go?

The USA is huge and therefore massive variations in the weather occur, dependent on where and when you visit. The northeast experiences a similar climate to the UK, with a distinct winter, spring, summer and autumn.
