We've said it before, and we'll say it again: the US National Parks are the outdoor adventure that every nature lover should experience. And with the celebration of the parks' centenary this year, there has been plenty to remind those seeking a nature escape to give the parks a try.
What many travellers don't realise, however, is that the National Park System encompasses more than just the heaviest-hitters. Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon and the Everglades are all beloved for good reason, but did you know that there is a Hawaii Volcanoes National Park or a Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky? The sheer range of landscapes you can find in these protected areas is hard to imagine, but the curious traveller will find them all worth a visit to the USA.
