Queenstown

Spend two days acclimatising after your long flight, exploring the country's self-styled 'Adventure Capital'. A room with views across serene Lake Wakatipu will whet the appetite for your coming forays into New Zealand’s stunning and infinitely varied natural landscapes. Queenstown’s imposing mountains, lush plains, fast-flowing rivers and nearby glaciers are a perfect backdrop for thrill-seeking adventures that range from hiking to hang-gliding and white-water rafting.

Days 5-16
Self Drive

Pick up your maui motorhome and New Zealand becomes your oyster. Our specialists can assist you in drawing up a comfortable yet exciting off-the-beaten track route. While the country’s headline-grabbing cities demand attention, it’s New Zealand’s natural world that truly stands out. There’s everything from paradise islands and serene fjords to rainforests and mountains. An Interislander ferry crossing from Picton to Wellington is included, as well as entrance into the glow-worm-lit Waitomo Caves and one Winery Havens overnight stay in Hawke's Bay, Martinborough, Cormandel Peninsula or Central Otago. But, it's often the journey that's the most impressive, meandering along coastlines, skipping over high mountain passes and skirting great lakes. They're routes that will bring you to the likes of Rotorua's geothermal wonders, Kaikoura's whale-watching spectacle and Dunedin – a Scottish town complete with historic cathedral and that ever-welcoming Kiwi cheer.

Arriving into Auckland two days before the end of your holiday, you'll drop off your motorhome to be transferred to your luxury hotel. Here, you'll stay right on the city's famous waterfront, settling into a Deluxe Harbour View room at the nautical-themed Hilton. You'll then have plenty of time to explore the City of Sails and its privileged surrounds. Head up the coast for black-sand beaches, turn out to climb the city's volcanic surrounds or head over the Haruki Gulf to explore the city's nearby islands. Waiheke is a favourite for its famous wineries. Back in Auckland, there's everything from world-class museums to a buzzing restaurant scene to keep you occupied.
