Location
Amankora Paro is located in Balakha village, 30 minutes from Paro International Airport. Its architecture has rammed-earth walls, gently sloping roofs and wood-panelled interiors. From the communal Living Room, there are beautiful views across a forest of blue pines, the 17th century fortress, the Drukgynal Dzong and Mount Jomolhari that soars imperiously 7,300 metres.
Accommodation
There are 24 suites at the hotel. Each suite features a combined lounge and bedroom, that’s furnished with a king-sized bed, banquette window-seat, and a reading chair. In the corner, there’s a traditional bukhari, or wood-burning stove. Opening from the bedroom are spacious bathrooms that feature a terrazzo-clad bath, twin vanities, and a separate shower and toilet.
Dining
The hotel’s Dining Room opens onto an external terrace that overlooks a small stream. The Dining Hall serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and specialises in Indian, Western and Bhutanese dishes.
Facilities
The hotel features the luxurious Spa Bhutan, which offers the Himalayan region’s traditional plant and herb-based therapies. The spa is split over two levels with the upper level containing a sauna, steam room and yoga studio. The lower level features one double treatment room, and four single treatment rooms. There is also a communal Living Room space, a small Boutique and complimentary Wi-Fi.
