Location
Arctic Bath is located just outside the village of Harads, and was designed by the team behind the nearby Treehotel. Approximately 50 kilometres south of the Arctic Circle, the surrounding region offers the quintessential Swedish Lapland experience. Although only an hour by car transfer from Lulea (Kallax) airport, you'll feel worlds away, nestled among forests and rivers – and in winter, plenty of snow.
Accommodation
This hotel's claim to fame is its distinctive birds-nest appearance – inspired by the logging history of the region. And, away from the main building, six contemporary guest rooms accommodate couples in typical Scandi style – think pared back decor and light-coloured wood with large glass windows for enjoying the scenery. Stay on land or in a cabin floating on the water, with views across the river. Each room comes complete with WiFi, floor heating and a traditional pellets stove, as well as an outdoor deck for meditating in the fresh air.
Dining
As a designated wellness retreat, the food at Arctic Bath's onsite restaurant features a menu of local, sustainable produce created by expert chefs. Gourmet dishes include everything from river-caught fish to reindeer meat, paired with handcrafted beer and wine curated to match the food. Throughout the day, spa visits are best accompanied by fresh smoothies, designed to rejuvenate and refresh.
Facilities
The spa is literally the centrepiece of this hotel, with treatment rooms, a bar and sauna circling a central cold bath where guests can take a revitalising dip under the northern sky. Treatments are designed around Arctic Bath's four cornerstones of wellness: Nutrition, Exercise, Peace of Mind and Face and Body Care. And, away from the hotel, Swedish Lapland awaits. Adventures abound – snowmobile across the frozen tundra or try your hand at husky sledding in winter, while summer allows for gentle hikes in the forest and biking along sunny trails.
