Location
Overlooking the lush forests and grassy meadows of Kanha National Park, the camp is situated on the banks of the Banjaar River, directly overlooking the heart of the park. The Kanha National Park is also one of India’s largest national parks, is part of ‘Project Tiger’, and is home to the endangered hardground barasingha species, a type of deer, as well as approximately 70 different tree species.
Accommodation
There are 18 lightweight tented suites at the camp that are set along the banks of the Banjaar River overlooking the core area of the Kanha National Park. The tented suites are designed with a light footprint to protect the environment, and are on raised platforms with only seven points on the ground. Each tent has wide glass doors opening onto private decks, pressed bamboo floors and panels, as well as raw timber furniture, canvas wardrobes, and leather and driftwood detailing.
Dining
Meals at the camp are organised around your game drives. Start the day with a delicious breakfast picnic, which you’ll enjoy on your morning game drive, complete with freshly brewed coffee. Lunch is served on the shady pool deck, before an indulgent afternoon tea, with aromatic beverages and tasty treats. In the evening you'll enjoy traditional Indian cuisine, including spicy regional favourites.
Facilities
On your twice-daily game drives, expect to see some stunning wildlife. As well as tigers, the Kanha National Park is particularly famous for its thriving population of hardwater barasingha, a species of swamp deer that was brought back from extinction in the park. Other rare species you’re likely to encounter on your trip include the Indian bison, wild dogs and the unique barking deer. The camp offers spa treatments in the privacy of your tent, personalised cookery lessons, and local Baiga & Gond tribal dancers for entertainment.
