Eagles Crag Lodge, Shamwari Private Game Reserve

Location

Nestled in a lush valley, Eagles Crag Lodge is located within the 25,000-hectare Shamwari Game Reserve, 45 minutes by road from Port Elizabeth. Surrounded by mountain cliffs and rock faces, Shamwari Game Resort is situated at the eastern extreme of South Africa’s Garden Route, an ideal location to enjoy the natural landscapes and majestic surroundings.

Accommodation

The lodge is composed of nine suites; seven of which are king bedded junior suites and two twin bedded junior suites, all can sleep a maximum of two adults per site. All suites are well-designed to ensure guests a memorable, comfortable and luxurious stay. With privacy in mind, suites are African thatched and all include en-suite facilities, indoor and outdoor shower, bird spotting scope and a private plunge pool with decking.

Dining

Dining takes place within the upper dining room and lounge, with a range of cuisine on offer and a cocktail bar, often reflecting life in the African Bush. Themed nights frequently occur, and some meals will accompany safari trips with your vehicle group.

Facilities

Game drives are regarded as the best activity of the stay at Shamwari, with two drives daily, at dawn and dusk. The game drives are all safe and expertly handled, with open safari vehicles allowing perfect, uninterrupted views of wildlife, with opportunities to see the Big Five, cheetah, hippo, giraffe, antelope, hyena, zebra and many more species. Game walks to see Shamwari’s fauna and flora can be arranged, alongside a ‘Kids on Safari’ program and one-of-a-kind Shamwari Cooking Wild Safari- learn to cook whilst on a safari drive. In addition to this, guests can experience an array of activities related to conservation, including visiting rescued wild cats at the Born Free Big Cat Sanctuaries, or involve in lodge activities such as the Relaxation Retreat Spa, gym facilities, tennis courts and traditional dancing.
