For more than a century this iconic hotel has welcomed film stars, politicians and royalty. Set atop a cliff looking out over the St. Lawrence River and the historic architecture of Old Quebec, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the hotel boasts a remarkable location that is perfect for exploring Quebec City.
Location
Quebec City is the ideal city to explore on foot and the Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac is perfectly placed for wandering through the old city. The hotel is around 30 minutes drive from Quebec City airport and valet parking is available including a car wash service. The railway station is approximately a 10 minute walk away.
Accommodation
Fairmont Le Chateau Frontenac offers a wide choice of rooms for the discerning traveller. All of them offer air conditioning, tea/coffee making facilities and standard hotel amenities. Not all rooms offer a view, so we recommend choosing a City View or River View room to guarantee one. Fairmont Gold is the concierge floor service and includes private reception check in on the 14th floor, lounge access throughout the day which includes breakfast, endless tea and coffee, pre dinner drinks and canapés and an honour bar. There is also a full concierge service to help you make the most of your time in Quebec City.
Dining
There are a number of dining options at the hotel, all offering something a little different but all with wonderful views of the St. Lawrence River. The 1608 Cheese & Wine Bar is inspired by the founding of Quebec City on the exact site of this bar! As the name suggests, there is a wide selection of cheese and wine complete with tasting menu and it’s a great spot for people watching. Champlain is under the guidance of Stephane Modat – one of Quebec’s hottest new chefs - and offers cutting edge regional dining. Afternoon tea is also available on Saturday afternoons. Bistro Le Sam and Bar Atrium offer a more casual dining experience and excellent cocktails. The hotel also has a Starbucks on the terrace level and offers 24 hour in room dining.
Facilities
Alongside the wide range of dining options available, the hotel also offers a superb health and fitness centre with heated indoor swimming pool, indoor whirlpool, children’s wading pool, two steam rooms and a state of the art exercise room as well as a full service spa - Spa du Chateau. There are a range of boutiques at the hotel and a hairdresser and baby sitting can also be arranged. During the winter months the hotel is also the ski shuttle route for Mont Sainte-Anne.
