Location
The spectacular property overlooks both Isandlwana and Rorkes Drift, within a 5000 acre Natural Heritage Site. One of the many perks of the location includes the array of game that live within the plains, including giraffe, zebra, blesbok, wildebeest and impala. Having received a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, the lodge offers a superb base to explore. The accommodation is off the beaten track, with transfer time from Durban Airport: 4 hours, and 5 from Johannesburg.
Accommodation
At Fugitives Drift Lodge, accommodation is available either at the Lodge and the Guest House. The Lodge, located near Rorke’s Drift, consists of eight spacious luxury en-suite rooms and an annex cottage composed of two twin en-suite rooms, sitting room and outside deck. All of the rooms have a private veranda, with access to a well-established and beautiful garden, and large swimming pool. Similarly, the Guest House is composed of six twin en-suite rooms, with al-fresco dining over the plains, a large swimming pool and verandas.
Dining
Guests all dine together in a communal dining room; dinner varies, often ranging from traditional African bush meals, to barbeque style alfresco and traditional British roast.
Facilities
Zulu guides are happy to accompany those wishing to walk the Fugitives Trail, alongside offering activities such as mountain biking horse riding, fishing and fly fishing. Fugitives Drift also offers a variety of tours of the plains: Isandlwana, Rorke’s Drift, Fugitives Drift, Mangeni Falls, Masondo and Blood River.
