Location
Found tucked away in the southwestern corner of Tenerife, the Bahía Del Duque enjoys direct access to a delightful sandy beach – the kind that characterises the Canary Islands. It’s the perfect way to take advantage of the region’s famous climate that rarely dips below 20°C in the winter and climbs to a temperate 28°C in the summer. The resort also lies in the shadow of El Teide volcano; a UNESCO World Heritage Site that’s covered in laurisilva forests and majestic cliffs. It’s all just 15 minutes’ drive from Tenerife’s international airport.
Accommodation
Guest rooms and suites – most of which face the sea – are decorated with traditional Spanish tiles, ornamental plaster work and handcrafted ceramics. It’s all wrapped up in lush, subtropical gardens, with views best taken in from your private balcony or terrace. You can also upgrade to the exclusive Casas Ducales where you’ll enjoy a 24-hour butler service, pillow menus, a courtesy bar and evening canapés. There’s even midmorning cava served in the solarium. Similar indulgences are found in the villas, each with their own pool and garden.
Dining
There’s certainly no shortage of dining options, with eight restaurants to choose from. You’ll be well looked after, whether it’s buffet indulgence, Italian favourites, French brasserie classics from a Michelin-star-winning chef, or traditional Canarian cuisine presented with a modern twist. A particular highlight is the poolside Beach Club, whose Mediterranean cuisine showcases the best in the island’s fresh cuisine. You’ll also be treated to Basque country specialities at Sua, Mexican indulgence at La Hacienda and pan-Asian gastronomy at Asia-Kan.
Facilities
As one of the region’s best resorts, the amenities here are, unsurprisingly, excellent. The outdoor spa is a special favourite, with its 35m Thalassotherapy pool and comprehensive range of treatments. There are also no fewer than six swimming pools, a gym, tennis courts and a nearby golf course. You’ll also have a full complement of activities available, ranging from yacht excursions and watersports to botanical walks and paddle courts.
