Location
The small town of Kirkenes is located in Northern Norway, close to the Russian border and situated between two time zones: Helsinki and Moscow. Kirkenes is known as the capital of the Barents Region and the gateway to the east, and here lies an amazing hotel that melts down each summer season, and has to be rebuilt every December. The Kirkenes Snowhotel is located as far northeast you can get in Norway- a two hour flight from Oslo.
Accommodation
Guests are accommodated either in the Snow Suites, or Gamme Cabin rooms. Snow Suites offer comfortable beds with thermal insulation and warm sleeping bags framed by ice, regarded as ‘small treasures’. Every room features sculptures and decorations made from ice and snow, all of which have different themes from the traditional Arctic culture or nature. Gamme-Cabins feature floor heating, large panoramic windows and sheepskin covered lounge chairs, designed and equipped like a small jewel.
Dining
The exotic and heated restaurant Lavvo serves delicious Norwegian delicacies including roasted trout and reindeer meat.
Facilities
The resort has a wealth of facilities, including a beautifully renovated barn, Ice bar and sauna. Along with your stay in one of the world's most unique hotels, you'll also have the chance to indulge in a range of exhilarating optional excursions during your stay, including king crab fishing, a snowmobile adventure and a husky safari to name just a few.
Stay here on these holidays
Tracing the Norwegian coast between Bergen and Kirkenes, this cruise explores spectacular winter landscapes, visits some of the world’s most beautiful fjords, crosses the Arctic Circle and sails around the remote North Cape.
