Moraine Lake Lodge

Tucked into a peaceful valley, Moraine Lake Lodge works hard to be almost entirely self-sufficient, working in harmony with the beautiful landscape in which it sits. When you turn on the tap, the water comes directly from an alpine well and all power is generated on site. The setting which houses the current lodge has been playing host to ‘paying guests’ since the early 1900’s, when the Canadian Pacific Railway built a tea-house. Tented facilities were replaced by cabins before the site was completely redeveloped and transformed into the beautiful lodge it is now in 1988.

Location

This beautiful lodge is just 8 miles from Lake Louise and 40 miles from Banff, making it an ideal base. The drive from Calgary airport takes around 2 hours. Parking is complimentary.

Accommodation

All rooms and cabins offer wonderful views of the Valley of Ten Peaks and its glaciers, as well as of Moraine Lake. Rooms are furnished with bespoke furniture, warm, woollen throws and a distinctive mountain style; the magnificent views can be enjoyed from the patios or balconies. There are no televisions or telephones; however the outside world is within reach with the installation of Wi-Fi.

Dining

The Walter Wilcox Dining Room is one of the finest restaurants in the Banff National Park and focuses on mountain-inspired fine dining, using the best local produce. There is also an extensive wine list, which includes Canadian vintages. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner; reservations should be made in advance. The Snowshoe Café offers a range of deli-style meals, baked pastries and light treats. For guests at the lodge complimentary afternoon tea is served between 3 and 5 each afternoon in the library. Breakfast is included with all stays at Moraine Lake Lodge and picnic lunches are available on request.

Facilities

Complimentary guided hikes are available along with kayaking on Moraine Lake; there is also a beautiful library for in-house guests.
