Seaside Los Jameos Playa, Lanzarote

Location

This excellent-value offering is found right next to the beaches of Los Pocillos and Matagorda, enjoying stunning views of the surrounding volcanic landscape. It’s also perfectly accessible, with the island’s lively capital, Arrecife, only a few minutes’ bus or taxi ride away. And, if you’ve had your fill of sunny relaxation, head to next-door Puerto del Carmen, whose elegant promenade gives way to a fine collection of bars and restaurants. Slightly further afield, there’s Puerto Calero, a welcoming marina that’s ideal for boat jaunts.

Accommodation

The Canary Islands, as a meeting point between Spain and Arabia, demonstrate a uniquely varied architectural heritage. It’s something that Seaside Los Jameos Playa does little to shy away from, with its giant atrium formed from the island’s pine trees and its façade’s high shutters and whitewash typical of the region’s traditional architecture. It’s all designed by students of César Manrique, Lanzarote’s favourite son whose paintings, sculptures and, yes, architecture are famous the world over. It’s a sense of style that carries over into the rooms; tastefully decorated in whites and blues, they overlook the ocean, the hotel’s lush gardens and its expansive pool area. Family Rooms are also available, along with generously sized suites, complete with furnished balconies.

Dining

Just as locally inspired, the hotel’s menus showcase the best of island dining, making use of fresh, seasonal produce. You’ll have a host of dining options, from poolside snacks to great, themed buffets. Each night, the likes of barbecues, gala dinners and show cooking extravaganzas are put on to impress, accompanied by live music and shows. It’s all served up surrounded by the hotel’s lush, subtropical gardens. An additional highlight is the is the afternoon tea party, where a selection of cakes, waffles and crêpes are served at the hotel's pool bar each day.

Activities at the Seaside Los Jameos Playa are plentiful and include a superb wellness centre offering a range of spa treatments, a huge swimming pool complex, on-site tennis and two fantastic golf courses located nearby. The hotel even features its very own Canary Islands Museum that highlights the region’s artisan crafts. Children are also well catered for, with a dedicated pool, mini-disco, mini-golf and supervised playground.
