Residence by Uga Escapes is located between leafy Park Street and the lakeside Buddhist shrine of Gangarama in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital. The boutique hotel is part of a grand, Victorian-style town house that was built in the 19th century by a wealthy barrister. It’s also in the heart of Colombo, with easy access to the city’s entertainment and shopping districts.

There are 11 luxury suites to choose from, all featuring ornate furnishings, Belgian rugs, spacious bathrooms with rain showers and over-sized vanities, soothing lighting and private, outdoor courtyards. The grandest is the Residence Suite, a gracious apartment with a large private courtyard and garden.

The chic and stylish 100-seat restaurant looks out at the hotel pool and blends local and international cuisine in a creative and imaginative way. There’s also a well-stocked wine cellar, an a la carte menu and irresistible deserts. For an evening drink or pre-dinner cocktail, visit the elegant bar, which also serves snacks between meals.
