Introduction
At the heart of Zion National Park lies Zion Canyon; perhaps the best known of Utah natural wonders. Carved by the waters of the Virgin River and subsequently widened and reshaped by wind, rain and ice, its majestic walls of jagged peaks and formations rise up for 2,000ft. Wildlife abounds in the wild meadows and luxuriant tree-lined riverbanks that run below the canyon walls. A guided six-mile scenic road follows the ever-narrowing canyon, while numerous hiking trails weave through the area with Emerald Rocks Trail and Canyon Overlook Trail being the most popular.
