Argentina stretches from the tropics to Antarctica, so it's no surprise that its wildlife ranges from the toucans and butterflies that flit through the spray of Iguazú Falls to the crowds of Magellan penguins that line the beach at Punta Tombo. Wildlife highlights include Peninsula Valdes, where southern right whales and elephant seals can be seen in huge numbers at the right time of year, and the Iberá Wetlands, an unspoiled network of creeks and lagoons twice the size of the Florida Everglades.
This 13-day tailor-made tour takes in all of Argentina's top wildlife-viewing regions, from the whales and penguins of Peninsula Valdes to the caiman and capybara of the Iberá Wetlands.

UK/Buenos Aires
Depart the UK on an overnight flight to Argentina's capital.

2-3
Buenos Aires
Arrive in Buenos Aires, transfer to your hotel and spend the day relaxing after your flight. The following morning you'll embark on a city tour taking in the highlights of Buenos Aires including the neighbourhoods of San Telmo, Recoleta, Boca and Palermo. In the evening, enjoy the dinner & tango show La Ventana.

Peninsula Valdés
Fly to Trelew where you'll be met by your guide and driven to Puerto Madryn, stopping en route at Punta Tombo, the largest colony of Magellan penguins in South America. Puerto Madryn is the gateway to Peninsula Valdes, a UNESCO-listed nature reserve home to guanacos, armadillos, penguins, elephant seals and large numbers of southern right whales, best seen off the coast in early spring (August to November). Enjoy a full-day tour on day five.

6-7
Iguazú Falls
Return to Trelew to catch a flight to Iguazú. Straddling the border of Brazil and Argentina, Iguazu Falls is one of the most amazing sights in the world - a series of cascades that thunders over a horseshoe precipice, surrounded by tropical jungle. Numerous walkways provide thrilling, vertigo-inducing vistas. Boats head upriver, exposing passengers to cauldrons of white water and, in some cases, surging through the smaller cataracts, leaving those on board drenched yet exhilarated. The most spectacular spot is undoubtedly the Devil's Throat, where several falls converge to hurtle down a 90m drop. You'll get to tour both sides of Iguazu, chugging through the rainforest in a small train and open-top truck, walking the catwalks and braving the spray on a boat trip.

Posadas
Journey to Posadas where you'll spend the night on your way to the Iberá Wetlands.

Iberá Wetlands
Drive to Estancia Rincón del Socorro, a 12,000-hecatre ranch that's been tuned into a nature reserve. Accommodation comprises a refined eco-lodge with six rooms and three bungalows. From here you'll have two full days exploring the Iberá Wetlands, the second-largest wetland in South America after the Pantanal in Brazil. The wildlife here is prolific, with caiman, capybara, marsh deer, armadillo and more than 300 bird species making their home among the peaceful creeks and lagoons.

Buenos Aires
Fly back to Buenos Aires for a final night in the capital. Evening activities are optional but a heart-pumping tango show is a hard act to beat as an Argentine finale.

Transfer to the airport where you'll board an overnight flight home, arriving in the UK on day 13.
