Introduction
Dawson City lets you delve back to the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898. Klondike National Historic Sites relive the past and a walk through the dirt streets of the town sees working saloons and the well-known Diamond Tooth Gertie's gambling house. With loads of festivals and events running throughout the year you cannot help but celebrate its history with the locals.
Take a trip to Dawson City Museum to view artifacts from the gold rush, visit an old Gold Dredge or learn the gold mining trade and pan for gold yourself at Bonanza Creek.
Wooden facades scattered around the town set the scene with tours available of The Commissioner's Residence and poet Robert Service's cabin. The Jack London Interpretive Museum also pays tribute to a writer that made his fortune with short stories from his adventures. And Berton House remains a retreat for those aspiring writers among us.
Drive along the Dempster Highway that passes Tombstone Territorial Park and stop to absorb the amazing views, landscape and wildlife. Continue onwards to cross the Arctic Circle and beyond. And at the right time of year look out for The Northern Lights.
